Well it did not rain during the event but it did the night b-4. It was storming so bad it blew a 18 weeler propane truck over the edge earlier that day. so they closed the road due to leakage and we had to drive all the way around threw Phoenix (about a 4 1/2 hour drive instead of 31/2). We started the ride at 8:00am and the starting line was a huge mud pit. People were having a hard time clipping into there pedals and even getting there bikes rolling threw the thick mud, by mile three 1/2 the field had mechanicals and turned back. I made it about 12 miles and the mud was so thick and soupy (think of thick oatmeal) that I was unable to go any further. I found a huge puddle and washed my bike down. That gave mw about another 3 miles and then I was in the same boat. I figure this race will cost me an additional $70 after I get my bike back in order. I spent about $8 at the car wash right after the event powerwashing the bike and shoes. The mud was so packed up in the frame that it took all the paint off alot of areas. Well next is El Tour de Tucson. A 111 mile road event around the city.
